When times pass and we walk towards the future

We all must leave a little behind us

We meet the greatest of friends

And in a perfect world ..it never ends

But, here we are in a real world

Where changes come rapidly

Where so unexpected a turn

Can cause us to learn

To learn that as we hold on to all

That all things sometimes fall

Those which help us grow

Needs must see us flourish and go

Go on to a better place

Remembering always of face

Remembering our bond

Though apart our friendships go on

So what is it the cause us to drift

That causes views to shift

So many common things

Grief, passion, lust, love, growth, and death

To all things someday we will part

Not really an end , but another start

We make promises to all to stay always

And find the way to stay

But in this time of loss

Count not the things you think you have lost

Count yourself lucky to have known

Feel blessed to have friends who have grown

For in this growth may they find

The love and passion of a like kind

A deep love that may yet never yield

A smile they can a lifetime wield

For all the things we could have said

For all the things we could have done

It seems there is only the one
