We sat in the darkness alone together

A fierce storm we try to weather

No storm of natures wrath

Just the horrors of the past

In a mass we huddle

All the world so befuddled

The touch of need

The touch of want

The touch of security

Our mind so close

Yet worlds apart in life

Our heart so close

Yet also closed

Closed by the abuse and pain

Closed so we dont go insane

Closed to all who come near

Closed do to undeniable fear

And in the darkness that surrounds

We hear but just the faintest sound

A sound so familiar yet so strange

A sound the we thought no longer remained

The sound of hope

The sound of promise

The sound of a calling future

The sound of something outside ourselves

But on deaf ears this sound did fall

For the hurt remain through it all

And such is life we cant move on

Until all previous hope is gone

For in the bleakest night

In all we know to not be right

In all the pain and loss

There is a light in the darkness
